York breaks by coach
York Minster, the largest Gothic Cathedral north of the Alps, is a masterpiece in stained glass and stone and a highlight of any trip to York.
The Jorvik Viking Centre is one of York’s most popular museums and high on the list of places to visit on a coach trip. This attraction takes you through the sights and smells of life here 1,000 years ago and is built on the actual site of the ancient Viking city of Jorvik excavated by archaeologists in the 1980s.
Other museums to visit include The Richard III Museum, The York Dungeon and the National Railway Museum. Shopping and relaxing in the traditional bars and cafés are also part of the York experience. Don’t miss the famous Betty’s English Tea Room, the cobbled streets of The Shambles (Europe’s oldest shopping street), and Stonegate with its many oak beamed shops, pubs and cafés.
