Why September is a Great Month to Travel

To help you enjoy some of England’s top destinations without the crowds we’ve hand-picked our top ten September breaks

Did you know that September actually has much drier weather than August? This is just one of the many reasons why lots of people like to travel during what’s known as ‘shoulder season’ - between the peak time of summer holidays and festive escapes.

Prices are even a little lower once the kids have gone back to school so (if you're not tied to the school holidays) then September is definitely worth a closer look. To help you enjoy some of England’s top destinations without the crowds we’ve hand-picked our top ten September breaks below.

1. Isle of Wight Superdeal

Return coach travel and ferry crossings, three nights accommodation with evening entertainment and excursions to quaint Godshill, relaxing Shanklin and Alum Bay with its stunning views… has this Isle of Wight break got your attention yet?

2. Blackpool Illuminations Weekend

Our Blackpool Illuminations Weekend ticks off the colourful attractions of one of Britain’s most popular seaside resorts, free excursions and an evening drive to see the iconic Blackpool Illuminations - all packaged up in a wonderful four-day break with accommodation, dinner, breakfast and, of course, return coach travel!

3. Mystery Weekend Special

If you’re looking for the rule book, it’s in the bin! We’re going rogue with this break and are ripping up the map... Only joking - the driver definitely knows where he’s going, but you won’t find out until you’re on the coach! Our Mystery Weekend Special is perfect for those of you that love surprises and the only thing we can confirm right now is that return coach travel, an overnight stay at a mystery hotel with dinner and breakfast, plus two visits to mystery places of interest are all included. Shhh we’ve already said too much!

4. Edinburgh & A Scottish Adventure

A knot of atmospheric streets overlooked by a striking castle, excellent shopping opportunities and historical sights at every turn - this break has Edinburgh stamped all over it! We’ve even thrown in free excursions to Perth and Stirling with its cobbled alleys, independent boutiques and beautifully-preserved historic Old Town. Now that’s what we call a Scottish adventure!

5. Scarborough Entertainment Weekend

What is a roundup of top-selling coach breaks without good old Scarborough?! Our Entertainment Weekend break to this classic seaside resort has got the lot! From entertainment every single evening and excursions to the famous Beverley Market and historic York, this is the perfect way to kick back, relax and explore without the summer holiday crowds!

6. Cruise & Steam & The Yorkshire Dales

They say that good things come in threes and this coach holiday is certainly no exception! Experience the three greats for yourself during our Sail, Rail and the Dales getaway. Even we’re surprised at the amount we’ve managed to squeeze into a three-day break - it’s positively bursting at the seams with return coach travel, hotel accommodation with dinner, breakfast and a 2 for 1 bar, an Included visit to Leeds, a heritage journey on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, a narrowboat cruise on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, a free excursion to Grassington, all rounded off with an included visit to Hawes & Aysgarth. Don’t say we don’t spoil you!

7. London at Leisure & a Night on the Town

Craving a trip to our vibrant capital? We certainly don’t blame you! It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally back on the road to London in September! By day you can visit the top attractions like the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye, and by night the city comes alive with its incredible atmosphere and famous food, drink and live entertainment scene. Don’t miss this hassle-free two-day breakaway

8. Torquay Seaside Special

With its wonderful palm-lined promenade and lively harbour, it’s hard to find someone that hasn’t fallen in love with Torquay - a true grand old Duchess of British seaside resorts. All sea and sky at first before its  sparkling white villas perched on the hilltops and elegant Victorian façades come into view. Our popular Torquay Seaside Special holiday serves up the very best of the English Riviera and even includes excursions to Dartmouth, Plymouth, Dawlish and Teignmouth.

9. Matlock Bath Illuminations & Fireworks

Matlock Bath, eh? This Peak District beauty is famous for the wonderful illuminations that take the form of a glittering parade of boats along the River Derwent. The event runs every weekend between the middle of September to the end of October, and this two-day coach break is the ideal way to experience it. We’ve even thrown in an included trip to Bakewell, which is home to the popular confection. Delicious!

10. Highland Castles & The Whisky Trail

Last but by certainly no means least, this five-day Scottish escape is a wonderful way to round off the end of summer. We tour around Ballater and Crathes Castle, along with Edinburgh, Stonehaven and Dunnottar Castle on this excellent adventure. All castled out? Try the Whisky! Our included excursion to Speyside Cooperage, Glenfiddich Distillery and Strathisla Distillery is not to be missed. Cheers to that!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our roundup of top September getaways. If you love to travel towards the end of summer then why not check out our full range of breaks departing from a town near you?
