An excursion to picturesque Lake Traun. The Traunsee is a lake in the Upper Austrian part of the Salzkammergut and situated in the Eastern part of the region. Misspelling the name as “Traumsee” means “dream lake” and indeed, the Traunsee is a rather pretty piece of Austria. The surrounding landscape is very diverse, ranging from Alpine mountains to the smooth hills of the Alpenvorland, the stretch of land once shaped by glaciers during the last ice age.

St Wolfgang overlooks the Austrian lake Wolfgangsee, and frst rose to fame for a beautiful 14th Century church that still exists to this day. We also visit the charming small town of Bad Ischl at the foot of the Katrin Mountain, the best-known health resort in the Salzkammergut region, its cultural delights are many. Besides the Kaiservilla, the city offers several health spas and tourist attractions like the historic Kongresshaus opened in 1875, the new Kurhaus built by in 1932 as well as the former residence of Franz Lehár, that he acquired in 1912 and today serves as a museum.
