A brief history

In 1634 when the Black Death was ravaging all of Europe, the picturesque village of Oberammergau remained unaffected, until a homesick villager returned and unknowingly brought the infection with him. As nearly 100 of their neighbours died, the remaining villages vowed to God that they would re-enact the Crucifixion of Christ every 10 years, and from that moment on there were no more casualties.

National Holidays have 7 day and 9 day holidays to the 2010 Oberammergau Passion Plays between 25th May and 22nd September. As well as inclusive tickets to the Passion Play we include excursions to discover the shimmering waters and attractions of the Bavarian Lakes with a cruise on Lake Achensee, plus visits to Innsbruck and inclusive entrance and guided tour of Hofburg Palace.
